Interdisciplinary Research & Initiatives

Initiatives

Brain, Biology and Machine Initiative (BBMI)
The heart of BBMI is UO's functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI) machine that produces images of brain function and brain tissue. Federal funding secured by members of Oregon's Congressional delegation and a $10-million gift from the Robert and Beverly Lewis family made it possible for UO to purchase the fMRI. It is one of only two research fMRIs in the nation not housed at a medical school.

Oregon Transportation Research and Education Consortium (OTREC)
OTREC is dedicated to stimulating and conducting collaborative multi-disciplinary research on multi-modal surface transportation issues, educating a diverse array of current practitioners and future leaders in the transportation field, and encouraging implementation of relevant research results.

Sustainability
Sustainability may be a big catch phrase now, but it's nothing new at the University of Oregon. Students, faculty and staff have been focusing on issues of sustainability for so long here that it has become second nature.

Wired Humanities Project
The Wired Humanities Project is the collaborative effort of professional staff, faculty associates, and student staff who combine technical computing skills and with scholarly training in humanities disciplines.
