Innovation talk to explore university entrepreneurial endeavors
Doug Hart, a professor of mechanical engineering at MIT, will discuss the role of universities in entrepreneurial endeavors, in a talk titled, "Ideas to Impact: The Third Option," at 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 6 in the Crater Lake South room of the Erb Memorial Union. Hart is the co-founder of three venture-backed biotechnology companies and has been involved in the commercial development of technologies ranging from satellite propulsion and unmanned drones to surgical robots.
Students Win Product Design Award
The fall term product design studio, sponsored by Oregon BEST and Portland LED lighting company Luxium, awarded two student teams $2500 as part of a license agreement for Luxium to commercialize their lighting design. Innovation Partnership Services facilitated the private-public partnership.
Sustainability Awards Nominations
The University of Oregon's Sustainability Awards Program is now accepting nominations for five award categories, including Research Innovation. The Research Innovation Award recognizes research that has led to new sustainability products or services. Nominations and self-nominations are due Monday, April 10.
