VPRI sponsors 2017 Faculty Research Awards

The Vice President for Research and Innovation will once again sponsor Faculty Research Awards. The program aims to stimulate research by providing faculty with support for research expenses, including travel, summer stipends, equipment, supplies, contractual services, shared facility use and graduate or undergraduate student research assistance.
Faculty Research Awards recipients are eligible for funding up to $5,500. The deadline for 2017 awards is 5 p.m. on Nov. 28. See the RDS Internal Funding Opportunities page for details and an application form.

Research Development Services conducted an information session on the Faculty Research Award program, sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation on October 31.

Faculty members who were unable to attend are welcome to contact Lynn Stearney in Research Development Services with questions about the award program. An FAQ is also posted on the RDS website.

Workshop Scheduled on NSF for Early Career Researchers

Research Development Services is offering a workshop session on Navigating the NSF for Early Career Researchers on Friday, Dec. 2, from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. Topics include an overview of policies and procedures, a discussion of the broader impacts criterion and an introduction to the resources available from Research Development Services. Research development as alternative career path for scientists

Wondering what Research Development Services is? Science recently published an excellent summary of research development in its Careers section. Peg AtKisson of Grant Writers Seminars and Workshops, one of the research development professionals interviewed, will present a one-day seminar at the University of Oregon on March 2, 2017, on Writing Winning Grant Proposals for NSF and NIH.
