DEI Committee Composition

NOTE: The following message was sent to the UO research community on Aug. 13, 2020

Dear Colleagues,

A big thanks to all of you who expressed interest in serving on the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee. Our primary goal was to ensure that this committee reflected the diversity of our organization, with representatives from our central research administrative units and core facilities. We also wanted to include individuals at different career stages and from different sectors of our organizational framework. This diversity of experiences and perspectives is going to be helpful as we move forward on this work at this critical moment. We are delighted to share that this year’s committee is:

  • Andrew Gray, Sponsored Project Services
  • Marie Wallmark, Sponsored Project Services
  • Carolyn Craig, Research Compliance Services
  • Brandi Fleck, Research Compliance Services
  • Mara Fields, Research Development Services
  • Melissa Gold, Research Core Business Services
  • Susan Belcher, Greenhouse
  • Karl Reasoner, Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program
  • Brittney de Alicante, Project Manager/Executive Assistant
  • Nadia Singh, Associate Vice President for Research

Please remember that committee membership will turn over, so there will be opportunities to participate on this committee in the future if you were not selected this year. Perhaps more importantly, there will be ample opportunity to participate in this work in many other ways. It is clear that there is lots of work to be done in diversity, equity and inclusion, and we all have roles to play. Our work is not just about the 400 people in our division but also about the people we reach across campus. As a team we need to be thinking about how our entire research operation- our staff, the Centers and Institutes and the faculty we serve—can better align with the IDEAL framework.

Thank you again for your efforts so far. I appreciate the energy around these crucial topics and look forward to making real progress on diversity, equity and inclusion in OVPRI.

Best,

Cass
