Initiate a Transaction

Agreements are essential to manage the intellectual property (IP) rights associated with your project from development through distribution. While some projects may have unique situations where an agreement is not suitable, other tools can be deployed to make sure the results of your research are protected. IIT will help you identify what you need to keep your project on track while safeguarding your IP.

Start a Disclosure in our Innovator Portal

Connect with IIT on an idea, no matter what stage. Disclosures are the starting point for patents, copyrights, or innovations to be shared outside of the UO.
MTAs are used when you want to send or receive tangible materials with an outside party. These are most often used to send biological or experimental materials that will be used in research, with or without a fee.
Also known as confidential disclosure agreements, NDAs can be useful tools when you wish to keep any information, not just intellectual property, confidential while discussing it with someone outside of the UO.
DUAs are agreements that define how data may be used when one party gives data to another. These usually govern how data is secured and what can be published.
DPAs are similar to data use agreements but focus on the privacy of individuals whose data is being collected. These are usually used for situations where health or other sensitive data is being exchanged.
PRAs clarify project members' rights and obligations at the beginning of a project. These agreements notify participants of special conditions of the project, such as sharing results with a sponsor, special royalty considerations, or publication conditions.
Engage with IIT and Sponsored Projects Services if a collaboration or sponsorship may include an industry partner to ensure that we are meeting our obligations as a public research institution.
Apps developed at the UO can be published through IIT on either the Apple or Google Play stores.
