- The fundamentals of the UO's Financial Conflict of Interest in Research (FCOI) policy, and the UO's Conflict of Interest, Conflict of Commitment, and Outside Activities (COI-COC) policy
- The FCOI training and Significant Financial Interest (SFI) declaration process required of all individuals who are responsible for the design, conduct, or reporting of sponsored research
- The disclosure requirements of all UO employees under the UO's COI-COC policy, and the associated disclosure process

On-Demand Trainings
This training is required of sponsored researchers by federal Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI) regulations, and the UO's associated Financial Conflict of Interest in Research (FCOI) policy. This training must be completed at least annually, and must be current - along with a current Significant Financial Interest (SFI) declaration - in order for an investigator to submit a proposal, or receive funding for sponsored research.
Learning outcomes for this training:
- Understanding the objectives and requirements of FCOI regulations and UO's FCOI policy
- Understanding what constitutes a Significant Financial Interest (SFI) and the SFI disclosure requirements
- Familiarity with the UO's Conflict of Interest, Conflict of Commitment, and Outside Activities (COI-COC) policy and how it relates to the FCOI policy and requirements
This training from the Collaborative IRB Training Initiative (CITI) is comprised of 4 required modules and offers an optional module. These can be completed at one's own pace. Please see Research Compliance Services' CITI webpage for more information about the required training.

Leadership from the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation describe the UO’s Conflict of Interest, Conflict of Commitment, and Outside Activities policy (COI-COC policy) which applies to all UO employees. This tutorial provides a comprehensive overview of the federal Financial Conflict of Interest in Research (FCOI) regulations, 42 CFR Part 50 Subpart F, "Promoting Objectivity in Research", issued by the US Public Health Services (PHS) and followed by many federal agencies. This tutorial is made available from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Learning outcomes for this training:
- Familiarity with the federal FCOI regulations
- Expectations and requirements of sponsored researchers, who are subject to the FCOI regulations
- Requirements of institutions to identify and adequately manage financial conflicts of interest in research
NOTE: Individual institutions, including the UO, may apply the regulatory requirements differently and/or have additional institutional requirements beyond what is minimally required. Check with RCS regarding specific policies and procedures related to the regulatory requirements covered in this video.
