Proposals
To ensure the submission of proposals by prescribed deadline dates, faculty should normally allow three (3) business days for a proposal to be reviewed and processed through Sponsored Projects Services. During major or heavy deadline periods, additional time may be required for review.
Pre Proposals
Pre proposals (sometimes called white papers or letters of intent) generally require a very brief description of the proposed research project (limited to one page or less). Pre proposals must be submitted to Sponsored Projects Services (SPS) for review and authorization only if one of the following conditions occurs:
- The sponsor requesting the pre-proposal is requiring an institutional signature
- The sponsor requires any budgetary information in the pre proposal
Of course, whether either condition occurs or not, it is also most beneficial to the principal investigator (PI) to contact SPS early for any pre proposal submission.
