When completing the RAP smartform for a new study submission, researchers are asked, “Under which unit is the investigator conducting this research?” (Question 4 in the Other Study Information section). The unit information is pulled into the RAP from Banner and includes shortening of departments in ways that can make it difficult to locate a specific unit. We have provided some tips for searching in the RAP as well as a reference chart of some University units that conduct research.

Tips for searching
When searching for a unit, you can type directly into the field using percentage symbols as wildcards. This will show you a list of possible matches from which you can select the correct unit. However, sometimes this method still does not return the correct unit. For this reason, we have provided a reference chart of common research units below.

When using this reference chart, locate the unit you wish to enter from the table below and either type in the RAP numeric entry or the RAP non-numeric entry into Question 4 of the Other Study Information in the RAP. Once entered, possible matches will be displayed. Select the closest match.
