As an employee, volunteer, visitor, student, or research associate at, or under contract to the University of Oregon’s, Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation (OVPRI), I understand that I may have access to confidential employee and financial information. By signing this statement, I am indicating my understanding of my responsibilities to maintain confidentiality and agree to the following:
- I understand that I may have access to employee and financial information during my employment which must remain completely confidential. I agree not to divulge, publish, or otherwise make such information known to unauthorized persons or the public.
- I understand that it is my responsibility to make sure all files are saved on a designated UO server, that my laptop is always secure and password-protected, and that information is released only to authorized persons.
- I agree not to remove any official record or report, or a copy thereof, from the office where it is maintained unless it has been communicated to my supervisor.
- I agree to safeguard any physical key, ID card, or computer network account that enables access to university information. I will not allow others to access confidential or sensitive University information through the sharing of access credentials (DuckIDs or passwords) or any other means. Additionally, I agree to promptly notify my supervisor of any actual breach of confidentiality or situations that could potentially result in a breach, whether it be on my part or the part of another person.
- I agree to adhere to the Oregon Public Records Law (OPRL) concerning employee, financial, and research data, and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Acts (FERPA) concerning student data as needed.
- I will not use the university’s equipment for political, commercial, or profit-making purposes.
- I agree to maintain confidentiality as outlined above both during and after my association with the University of Oregon.
